End of Year Reflection

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Rest & Reflect

Scripture: I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. – Psalm 119:59

The end of the year is a natural ‘stop’ in the rhythm of life—a perfect time to sit with the Lord and honestly consider our ways. Psalm 119:59 captures the essence of reflection: it is not just thinking about the past; it is the active process of turning our feet back to His testimonies. When we look back at the past twelve months, we should see both our successes and our stumbles through the lens of God’s grace. It is an opportunity to confess where we drifted and to celebrate how He remained faithful even when we were not.

Take an hour today to be completely still. Look back at the year. Where did you get off track? What are the ‘testimonies’ or truths of Scripture that need to become your anchor again? As you identify these areas turn your feet toward them. Use this time as a spiritual reset allowing the Lord to purge the guilt of the past and prepare your heart for a fresh start. Reflection isn’t about wallowing in regret—it’s about preparing your path for the year ahead.

Prompt: As the year draws to a close, what has been your greatest area of spiritual growth?
