Embracing Weakness
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9
We often equate failure with disqualification, viewing our weaknesses as signs that we are falling short of God’s expectations. Yet, Paul’s experience in 2 Corinthians reveals a counter-intuitive reality: it is precisely in our inadequacy that God’s grace finds the greatest room to move. When we stop trying to hide our flaws or compensate for our limitations with human effort, we finally create the space for the power of Christ to rest upon us. Failure, when surrendered to God, becomes the threshold of a miracle.
Today change your narrative regarding your limitations. Instead of viewing your weaknesses as shameful evidence of your inability recognize them as the primary canvas for God’s power. If you are feeling overwhelmed by a personal struggle or a recent disappointment bring it to the Lord not with a request for Him to remove it but with a request for Him to be glorified through it. Your insufficiency is simply a reminder of your need for His sufficiency, which is always more than enough.
Prompt: How does viewing your weaknesses as an opportunity for God’s strength change your perspective on failure?
Action Step: In our SHAPE, acknowledging our limitations allows God’s perfect power to operate fully in our lives.
Next Step: Identify one area of personal weakness today and thank God for the opportunity it provides for His strength.
