Community Reflection

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Rest & Reflect

Scripture: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: – Hebrews 10:24 (KJV)

The body of Christ is intended to be a mutual encouragement machine, a group of people who are constantly provoking—or ‘stirring up’—one another toward love and good works. On your day of rest, look back at the week and identify the people who acted as a catalyst for your faith. Maybe it was a sermon, a small group discussion, or a quiet text from a friend. These aren’t accidents; they are the intentional work of the Holy Spirit moving through the local church to keep your heart soft and your focus sharp.

Take a moment to send a quick message to someone who encouraged you this week. Let them know how their faithfulness helped you grow. By acknowledging their contribution to your spiritual life, you strengthen the bond of the community and encourage them to continue in their own good works. Your growth is not a private matter; it is a shared journey, and today is the perfect time to celebrate the people God used to stir your soul.

Prompt: As you rest today, how has your church community actively encouraged your spiritual growth and faithfulness this week?

Action Step: Sabbath rest includes reflecting on the gift of the Body of Christ and the believers God has placed in your life to provoke you to good works.
