Daily Devotions: Breastplate of Righteousness (Week 5, Wednesday)

The breastplate of righteousness serves as the vital protection for our hearts, the very seat of our emotions and commitments. In the heat of spiritual conflict, the enemy often fires arrows of guilt, shame, and self-condemnation at us. However, because we are clothed in the righteousness of Christ—not our own performance—we have an impenetrable shield that keeps our hearts secure in His grace, regardless of our past failures or current struggles.

Wearing this breastplate means acknowledging that your standing before God is established by the Cross. When you accept your position as a child of God you effectively block the enemy’s attempts to make you doubt your value or your salvation. Guard your heart with this truth today: you are justified and righteous in His eyes and that reality provides the safety necessary to stand firm against any spiritual attack.
