Bearing Spiritual Fruit
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Equip
Scripture: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. – John 15:5
Spiritual fruit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and goodness—is not something we can manufacture through grit or determination. It is the natural result of abiding in the Vine. When we try to produce ‘fruit’ through our own effort, we end up with artificial, exhausting imitation. But when we remain connected to Christ, drawing our strength and identity from Him, the fruit begins to grow organically. We are branches, not the vine; our primary task is not to ‘produce’ but to ‘remain.’
Examine your heart today: are you franticly trying to fix your own character or are you prioritizing your time with Jesus? If you feel barren don’t try harder to perform; stop and reconnect with the Source. Abiding looks like consistent prayer meditation on the Word and a posture of dependence. As you stay rooted in Him, His life will flow into yours, and the fruit of the Spirit will inevitably appear, testifying to His power at work within you.
Prompt: What kind of fruit is your life currently producing?
Action Step: Equipping involves staying connected to Jesus so that spiritual fruit naturally grows.
Next Step: Evaluate your daily schedule to ensure you have time to abide in Christ.
