Authenticity
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. – Psalm 51:6
God is not interested in the polished exterior we present to the world; He desires truth in the ‘inward parts.’ Authenticity before God means bringing our unfiltered, raw, and sometimes broken selves into His presence. When we stop trying to hide our flaws from Him, we inevitably stop trying to hide them from others. This transparency is the foundation of genuine human connection; it frees us from the exhausting weight of maintaining a facade and allows us to relate to people out of our true, redeemed identity.
Today practice an ‘inner honesty’ with your Creator. Acknowledge your doubts your fears and your struggles in secret prayer. As you grow comfortable being known by God you will find it easier to be real with those around you. When we interact from a place of authenticity, we invite others to do the same, creating a community where grace can truly flourish because we have stopped pretending to be perfect.
Prompt: How does living authentically before God change the way you interact with others?
Action Step: Authenticity is the foundation of a healthy spiritual life and SHAPE.
Next Step: Ask God to reveal any areas where you are wearing a mask.
