Scripture: But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: – 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)
Apologetics is simply the art of explaining the beauty and logic of the hope we carry in Christ. We are commanded to be ‘ready always’ to give an answer, which means preparing our hearts through consistent study and prayer so that we aren’t caught off guard when the opportunity arises. However, our witness must be framed in ‘meekness and fear,’ ensuring that our tone is as compelling as our message, reflecting the gentleness of our Savior.
Being prepared to explain your faith doesn’t require a degree in theology just a sincere heart that understands why Jesus is your greatest treasure. Start by reflecting on your own journey: how did the Gospel change you? When you can articulate the hope you have you become a powerful witness to those around you who are searching for answers in a hopeless world. Keep your heart sanctified for Christ and He will provide the words when you need them.
Prompt: Are you prepared to explain why you believe the Gospel to someone who questions it?
Action Step: Sharing our faith requires us to understand our beliefs and communicate them clearly and respectfully.
Next Step: Write down a short, simple explanation of why you trust in Jesus Christ.
