Acknowledging God’s Majesty

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Worship God

Scripture: The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. – Psalm 93:1 (KJV)

Before we bring our requests to God, we must bring our recognition of who He is. The Psalmist captures the sheer weight of God’s rule: He is ‘clothed with majesty’ and ‘girded with strength.’ As you prepare for worship, make a conscious effort to shed your preoccupation with your own troubles and focus entirely on the throne room of heaven. Worship is an act of lifting our eyes from the ground to the heavens, acknowledging that while our world may feel shaky, the Lord’s kingdom is established and cannot be moved.

As you join your church today, don’t just observe the music; participate in the act of magnifying Him. If you find your thoughts drifting, pray: ‘Lord, reveal Your majesty to me.’ Let your singing and your quiet attention be an act of bowing down before the King who reigns. By intentionally shifting your perspective to His glory, you prepare your heart to receive whatever He has for you in His Word today.

Prompt: As you prepare for corporate worship, how can you consciously acknowledge and magnify the absolute majesty of God?

Action Step: Worship is the proper response of the creation to the majestic, unshakeable sovereignty of the Creator.
